Social media marketing is not only important to Search Engine Optimization (SEO), it has become a nearly essential aspect of an SEO campaign. Since the birth of “Web 2.0” the internet has provided numerous ways to communicate with customers, share information, build social connections and build business connections. It is a brave new world and social media marketing is at the forefront.

Why is social media marketing important?

Mainly it is important because it give a new avenue to connect with customers. Social connections are instant and direct. It is also something that is accessible to the average person.

What is the Usefulness of Social Bookmarking to Social Media Marketing?

Social bookmarking is mainly using sites like Digg, Stumble Upon, and Delicious. The idea is that people go and bookmark their favorite sites which can be shared with others. Search engines will follow these sites because it helps them to index sites faster and gives them a measure of a sites “popularity”. If a bookmark for a site has been made it is assumed that someone thinks the site has value and a portion of that perceived value is passed on the site.

Social Media Marketing and Backlinks

Relevant and quality back-links (also known as inbound links) are well known to be an essential part of SEO. Many of the Social Bookmarking sites are also “do-follow”. Do-follow is a situation where the “bots” that Search Engine send out will “follow” the links to the site. They will then index the site and give “credit” to the site for an inbound link. Each backlink on a social bookmarking site actually counts as a “vote” for the site, in this way. The power of social bookmarking really comes when you are able to leverage a strong social network to also bookmark your page. This gives a much larger number of “votes” and can be used as proof for the search engine of a sites, “popularity” and therefore drive it higher in search engine results.

The Power of Networking

Networking is in many ways just another term for social media marketing. As you develop more contacts there is often a “you scratch my back and I will scratch yours” mentality with social networking. One of the best ways to get ahead therefore is to help others to achieve their goals. When a person is active and social and seems to really help others, people notice this and the social network of potential customers and “business partners” grows.

In summation Social Media Marketing is powerful and pervasive. Using it is not only great for SEO purposes but can drive direct traffic also. The best way to get ahead socially is simply to be social. When you take these steps you cannot help but grow and prosper.

Writing articles for your home based business has many values. Not only will it bring in traffic from interested readers who want to hear more from you, but it also is a good way to build back links and increase your chances of receiving free traffic from the search engines. There are many ways to market your articles and here are some tips for you to get the most back from your writing efforts.

Article Marketing Tip 1 – First of all, it is very important to submit your article to the top directories on the internet. Doing this manually will take some time and effort but it will not cost you anything and the exposure you get from these top directories will benefit your home based business greatly. To find a list of the top directories, simply type in something like “top 25 article directories” in your favorite search engine search bar.

Article Marketing Tip 2 – There are many home based business forums that will allow you to post your articles. In the forums there will be a separate article posting section. Sometimes ezine publishers and webmasters look through these sections for material to publish on their ezine or websites. Another free high exposure method to market your article.

Article Marketing Tip 3 – Don’t submit the same article everywhere. Some of the bigger search engines wont pick up your article because they will see that article as spam. All you need to do is make some quick adjustments to your article. By tweaking the title, changing some of the sentence structure, and rewording your resource box, you will give yourself three or four unique versions of the same article. This method will actually trick the search engines into thinking you have many unique articles.

Article Marketing Tip 4 – Write useful information. You will gain trust and rapport from your reader by writing about things that will help the reader or answer questions to their problems. It is more likely that the reader will be more interested in what you write of offer in the future if you are able to help that reader in some fashion.

Using these home based business article marketing tips will help increase the results you receive. Article marketing is one of the most effective and cost efficient ways to increase back links and get traffic to your site immediately. Perfecting the writing methods will take some time but just getting articles out there is very important. The more articles you write and distribute, the more traffic you’re going to get. By using an article distribution service you will save eons of time and effort and the traffic results will also increase dramatically.

It is our intention that these marketing tips will help you avoid common mistakes made by the majority of loan officers. Heed this advice!

Mortgage Marketing Tip #1

Make your advertising and print media more effective by having a headline on everything: letters, greeting cards, ads, everything.

Headlines are what get the reader. They make them want to read more. They tell the reader what benefit he/she will get from reading more. And that’s exactly what you want them to do.

Make the headline powerful and include a benefit.

Examples:

3 things you can do today to improve your credit
Here’s something you might enjoy…
I started thinking of you when I read this article…

Make sure to include a headline in all your media and it will increase your results.

Mortgage Marketing Tip #2

When you do something for a client, brag about it.

What I mean is, if you accomplish something, make it a big deal.’

“Mr. Hity, I was holding my breath for a while, and that collection on your credit report made it real close, but I fought for you and got the lender to approve your loan!”

That’s a lot better than saying, “Hi, your loan was approved today. Congrats.”

Make yourself out to be the valuable professional you are. Make sure that your clients know exactly what you do for them.

Mortgage Marketing Tip #3

Write thank you notes to people everyday.

This one mortgage marketing tool can make you so much money your head will spin. Everyone loves to be appreciated and acknowledged. Being nice and having manners are a thing of the past. But when you take the time to thank someone, you connect to them on deeper level.

Get yourself some thank you cards from the stationery store and thank people who did something for you today. It could be for anything,

Thank your mailman for bringing the mail up to the office. Thank the underwriter for a speedy decision
Thank your client for calling to say they would be late
Thank the realtor for the referral.

These cards can make someone’s day. And you really stand out from the crowd as a caring mortgage professional when you use them.

Mortgage Marketing Tip #4

If someone answers your phone for you, have him or her use the following line.,

“He/she is working with a client right now, let me see if he can take the call.”

This does a couple things,

1. Makes you seem busy even if you are not. This shows the client that you are in demand and confirms that he made a good decision by choosing you.
2. Allows you to not talk to people you do not want to talk to
3. Allows you to say to the caller, if you pick up, that they are important enough to you to interrupt an important client meeting.

This might not be a “traditional” mortgage-marketing tool, but it will make you more desirable. And while it will not make the phone ring more, when it does, you will get respect from those on the other end of the line.

Mortgage Marketing Tip #5

CANI

Constant and Never Ending Improvement
Do something everyday to improve your business. 1 small change everyday can make a huge difference in a couple months. Implement one mortgage marketing tool at least once a week. At least.

Over the course of a couple years, the results will be dramatic.

Just one small thing is enough. Examples are:
· Hanging a certificate of completion on the wall
· Hanging a testimonial on the wall
· Adding a signature to your emails
· Adding a small consumer article to your website

Mortgage Marketing Tip #6

Look at other businesses for great ideas to adapt to your business

Most innovations come from other businesses.

Like the drive thru window. Who knows who started it, but fast food places use it, banks use it, pharmacies use it, and even restaurants are experiencing success with it.

What new services do you use that make your life easier? Can you adapt these to your business? How about emailing potential customers the interest rate everyday if they request it? Or Providing a Post-Closing Kit with items clients will need when moving?

You can use the marketing tools from other businesses too. If you see a marketing piece that really gets your attention, think about how to adapt it and use it in your business.

Mortgage Marketing Tip #7

It doesn’t matter how good a loan officer you are – if you suck at marketing, you will starve.

Knowing how to get clients is infinitely more important than any other knowledge you may attain.

Tony Robbins is not the best NLP trainer out there, but he is the richest because he knows how to market himself.

The Men-Mars, Women-Venus guy is not the best marriage counselor out there, but he sure made a killing in books, tapes, and seminars.

How much money you make has very little correlation to how much you know. Of course you must know the basics, but other than that, it makes very little difference at all.

He who markets best, makes the most money.

As an internet marketer, you need several things to happen for you to be successful. If you minimize your risk, you stand a better chance of succeeding. Marketing to a niche instead of the mass market is one way to achieve this. Let’s look at a few niche marketing tips that will help you maximize your profit.

Two niche marketing tips in particular will help you beyond measure. Choosing specific keyword phrases and probing deep into your niche will help maximize your results. Each of these tactics can provide better results than you would receive otherwise.

First of all let’s look at the advantages of specific keyword phrases. When someone types in a longer phrase, they are looking for very specific information. General phrases are much more hotly contested on the internet. The more specific you get, the less competition you will have for traffic. While there may be less visitors overall, you may get more visitors than if you went after a broad term.

The way to find good specific keyword phrases is by doing research. Keyword research is vital to any internet marketer. There are many keyword tools available online. If you want to succeed it is critical that you learn to use one of them. These types of tools can help you discover words that are related to your niche. Many times, they are phrases that you haven’t really thought of otherwise. Besides coming up with new phrases, you’ll also find out which ones are worth your time. You can find out the search demand and supply for each keyword. This will let you know how many people you’re competing with. It will also let you know how many people are searching for the information. This one step alone could save you weeks of frustration. There’s nothing worse than doing hours of work marketing a product, only to find out that no one wants or needs it.

The second of our niche marketing tips is going deep inside the niche. While you may think you’re in a niche, it may actually be a large canyon. You can always go down deeper into the niche you’re in with sub-niches. Once you’ve mastered one area, you can drill down deeper and completely master the many sub-niches in your area of expertise. There is always someone out there looking for the most obscure things. If you’re the first one to provide it for them, you will profit greatly.

While you may not get as much traffic from these sub-niches, the quality of the traffic is generally better. People that are typing in a very specific keyword phrase into a search engine are usually looking for a specific solution. If you can provide it, they’ll buy from you. So don’t get discouraged if you only get a few hits on these keywords. You will probably have a higher conversion rate on those hits. Therefore each hit becomes worth more.

With these niche marketing tips, you should be better equipped to go out there and tackle the internet ‘ one niche at a time.

One of the biggest problems faced by network marketers is training for new members of their downline. A lot of training is either ineffective, not sufficiently comprehensive or worst of all, entirely absent!

Obviously, you need too educate new recruits about how the program works and the details of the commission structure, but this in and of itself is not enough. New recruits must also be trained on how to make a marketing system effective.

Think about this a minute and you will appreciate the value of doing this – after all, what are the most common complaints that marketers hear from their downline?

“I can’t seem to find leads; where and how do I do this?”

“I’m not getting any recruits.”

“I’ve been doing this for months and I haven’t made a cent.”

These complaints indicate two problems – insufficient training, as well as the absence of a clearly defined marketing system. You can’t blame your downline here – they want to be successful too. There is another problem at work.

It isn’t that they are not motivated – but they will become unmotivated if you just set them adrift with no support or roadmap to making a success of their business. If they can’t get the program to work for them, they will quickly drop out in search of other opportunities.

So what can you do for your downline? Simple – teach them about how you made your business a success. Especially if you are a marketing professional, you may not even realize that you have a marketing system.

Think back on what you did when you were starting out. If you’ve been successful, then you do in fact have a marketing system – or you wouldn’t be in the position to ask yourself this question.

As you recall the steps you took along the way, write them down. How did you generate leads? How did you follow up with prospects? How have you gotten the conversion rate that you have?

You need to then teach this step-by-step process to your downline. You must teach them how to follow in your footsteps and let them have the success you have had. This can be quite simple.

You can automate your training process if you can get your downline signed onto your mailing list. This way, you just have to write these materials down one time. Following this, training can be delivered via your autoresponder.

Easy, yes? It is indeed, but it can make all the difference.

If you want to really build your business and increase your profits, you need to give your downline proper training in how to make their business a success, just as you have with yours.

Would you like to learn how to set up a training system on complete autopilot? I encourage you to visit my training site for further details.

Network Marketers,

I can predict the future of your network marketing business. That’s a pretty bold statement, eh?

So why would I say that? Because I already know how you’ve been running it.

Warning: You may not like what you’re gonna hear:

-Unfortunately you’re among the 95% of network marketers that’ll make less than $300 and sign up maybe if you’re lucky 2 folks in your network marketing business life time.

-You or your distributor got in thinking you’d make a bunch of money real quick and 3-4 months later you’re out of the biz, your autoship’s canceled, you’re on network marketing lifesupport or your out of the network marketing business completely.

-You’re spending way more money than your retail sales or residual income is bringing in each month.

-You’ve been trying scattershot online/offline advertising techniques that have produced anemic results at best, and you don’t realy know what works and what doesn’t.

-You lack some key skills in the area of influence and attraction principles to get your prospects to consistently review your business or product. And you may not even be aware of this.

-You’ve probably underestimated the amount of continuous learning needed for your business and the the level of personal sacrifce and commitment it takes to really succeed in network marketing or online marketing. For example, you may be spending less than the recommended minimum of 10 hours a week on your network marketing business or you’re afraid of being rejected so you don’t talk to potential prospects, which is a necessary part of the business.

-You don’t have solid online/offline marketing plan and system in place using the latest marketing strategies and techniques. This plan would outline EXACTLY what you should be doing daily on your network marketing business, whether you do it or you have it outsourced.

-You haven’t BRANDED yourself so that you are separate and DISTINCT from your network marketing business.

This is key beccause self-branding allows you to insulate yourself from changes to your business. If your business ever goes under (and it does HAPPEN) your brand is INTACT allowing your to take your team with you and market any other opportunity.

-You don’t have a coach that you work with regularly to help guide you in your personal businss efforts. Even Tiger Woods has a coach, and he’s arguably the best golfer IN THE WORLD. Finally, you haven’t gvie yourself enough TIME to allow the puzzle pieces of your efforts to fall into place and mature so you do get better. Some other “next best thing” comes along you’re distracted and you’re all over it.

Listen, success rarely happens overnight. Success is the result of doing things consistently and correctly over time. If you’re a network marketing newbie, business success won’t necessarily happen in 1 week or even 1 month. But over time with the right mindset, skillset marketing systems and strategies, self-branding, coaching and TIME it is nearly guaranteed.

In fact, here is the direct, cut-to-the-quick formula for network marketing and online marketing success:

Mindset + Skillset + Marketing System + Self-Branding + Coaching + TIME = Inevitable Business Success!

Finding all this in one place is challenging to say the least, but not impossible.
It doesn’t matter how or where you find the pieces and connect them up together, but you WILL need them for online success, as a online marketer or as a network marketer.

if you commit to these bedrock principles and learn the formula above though, you’ll find you’ll be able to PREDICT YOUR OWN SUCCESS in your network marketing and/or online marketing business!

Network marketing success is not something you can find “out there” through an opportunity, sponsor, or upline. Rather, it’s an inside job.
Success in network marketing need not come to only a select few. It is all about you in the long run, and it doesn’t happen by accident. Success in any network marketing business is based on your productivity and taking action mentally, physically, and sometimes even more importantly, emotionally.
In most online network marketing businesses today, you will hear more about their failures than successes, but truly, the only real determining factor in successful network marketing is who you look at in the mirror every morning.
No marketing plan will ever determine your network marketing success. Nor will the product line or company. No matter how often you see it screamed from the scam forums, even your upline is not responsible for creating your network marketing success. Your uplines’ responsibility to you is simply to help create and facilitate the *opportunity* for your success, i.e. to increase your odds of success with the support of guidance and training. It’s up to you to decide how to use and implement that guidance.
The journey to all personal network marketing success is paved with seeking education, learning, doing and growing. It is a must to learn some new skills and change some of your thinking, actions and reactions pertaining to online business.
Most people don’t understand this fact, but your success will be in direct proportion to your personal growth and development! Successful network marketing has many aspects and includes persistence, consistent promotion, and patience, but a positive attitude is equally critical to achieving successful results. Marketers with doubtful minds who lack self-confidence and determination to follow through on those key elements, even when given the best proven tools and systems for success … will … still … fail.
For network marketing success attainment, attitude is as important as ability. Attitude can seem like such a little thing, but it makes a huge difference in your personal and professional success. It is more important than skills, talent, experience, education or intelligence.
To different people, the same world is a hell… or a heaven. A success-oriented attitude creates the positive difference. Nothing can stop the person with a positive mental attitude from achieving his goal. And on the other hand, nothing on earth can help the person with a negative mental attitude.
A successful attitude is not something you are born with. Rather, it’s something you have a choice about. Accepting the fact that there will always be some situations that are difficult and that there will always be problems to solve is essential. Having a successful attitude cannot alter what exists, but it can influence your future by helping you choose how to deal positively with the things you encounter every day. Your perspective on challenging situations, not the problem itself, will determine your success or failure.
Regardless of the vehicle, upline, product, service or opportunity you choose, the choice to take massive, positive, and focused action to attain success, or to use massive lame excuses to produce mediocrity is totally up to you. At the end of every day, you and only you will ever determine your success … or failure.
Take responsibility for it, get out there, and shine!

Do you know what directory submission is? A directory submission is a process, in which a website is submitted to online directories, by the owner or a directory submission service.

Today, this method has become a necessary step for all who own a website. The reason is that it acts as like a sort of referral system for businesses on the internet, and in addition, the more referrals your website gets; the better search engine ranking as well as an increase of traffic. If you are a website business owner, then you know how important these certain aspects of SEO are. So you want to make sure that you are doing everything you can, to make sure you give your business venture the best advantage.

How to submit your website directory? Before beginning to submit your site, you’ll want to make some preparations.

Get your website in order. If your website isn’t in the best shape, your submission efforts may be of little value.

Begin writing your directory submission
Write your title & link text. Many directories require that you use your site’s name, or your actual business name as the title. Others will let you expand upon it a bit, so give this a bit of thought. For example, the actual name of one site I’ve promoted is Edwin Romond. Ed is a poet based in Pennsylvania, and he gives lots of poetry readings there. You will probably wind up using several titles of various lengths and using different keyphrases. It might be more appropriate to use one title on one site, and another title on another site. This is perfectly fine, and can actually be helpful.

Write a brief description of your website.
Most directories require a description from 150-255 characters – that’s about 15-25 words or so, probably 2-3 sentences. This is the description that will be displayed below the link to your website in the directory. It should contain some of your keywords (without sounding ‘spammy’) & explain what your site is all about. You have a very limited space to do that, so you need to make every word count.

List your keywords, in order of importance.
Some directories want you to submit keywords in addition to your description. Also, some directories want the keywords/keyphrases separated by commas, others just want them separated by spaces. So it’s worth writing 2 lists, formatted in the 2 different ways. Again, don’t use the same word more than about 3 times, it chews up space & may be considered spamming. Use words that are actually on your website, and ones that people would likely search on to find a site like yours. You’ll want about 200 characters in your keywords list. But also make a shorter list because some directories will want only about 5 keywords.

Don’t make it sound “spammy!”
That goes for titles, descriptions, and keywords. Avoid promotional language & repetition. Just be honest & objective, write your text carefully with your visitors (not the search engines) in mind & you will do fine.

Choose the right category.
Take a little time to browse through the directory to find the category that most closely fits your website. This is important, as many directories will reject your site if it’s submitted to an inappropriate category. However, if there are 2 categories which are equally suited to your site, choose the one with least number of other links (competition) or the one with the higher Google PageRank.

Use an alternate email address.
Many directories require an email address, to confirm your submission or for other purposes. I’d recommend setting up a unique email address (a real one) just to submit to the directories. Most directories won’t sell your email address. But it does happen occasionally. Just to be on the safe side, use that alternate address. You don’t want your primary email address to be targeted with spam.

Directory submissions are an important part of the link building process offered by many SEOs.

Considering the fact that complete advertising industry is affected by our economy in one way or another last year. Everyone would imagine that U.S. Small Business Internet Marketing spend will face most challenging time. On the contrary Small Business Advertisers are still very optimistic and the SMB Online Spend is expected to hit more than at least US$ 8 billion in 2010.

The total US Interactive marketing Spend in the year 2010 is expected to reach around US$ 30 billion, which is 13% of all ad spend and shows 13% year to year growth also.

According to a study about 69 percent of small business advertisers expected that their spending on online advertising for 2010 would be equal to or greater than last year. Among their criteria for selecting advertising opportunities are rates, proximity of the ad vehicle to business prospects, and repeating what they have done in the past. Around 50 percent of small business owners believe online advertising is effective — a number considerably higher than the rank they gave direct mail (32 percent), yellow pages (28 percent), and newspapers (27 percent).

The study also recommends that by 2013, the spending habits of SMBs are likely to be very different than today, when their interactive buys consist mainly of paid search (accounting for 85% of online advertising). In five years, 68% of their spending will be on paid search and video. For the time being the survey suggested, email marketing continues to be the most popular online channel among small businesses, ahead of online search, display advertising and social media marketing.

In 2010, many small businesses plan to spend the same or more on the following online activities:

57% on email programs to current clients. 57% developing a company website. 55% on email programs to potential clients.
